Phyllis Brandt was born in Belle Valley, Ohio in 1929 and grew up in Ohio and Indiana. She majored in music at Muskingum College in New Concord. She met her future husband, Dick Brandt, when they played clarinet together in the college band. They were married in 1952. Phyllis and Dick lived in Germany and several states before settling in the tri-cities in 1981. Phyllis led children’s choirs and taught folk guitar while raising their three sons, David, Steven, and Dennis Brandt. She retired from the Hanford Nuclear Reservation in 1991 where she worked as a secretary. For a number of years after retirement she played piano at Elder Daycare, and for many years she and Dick delivered for Meals on Wheels. Phyllis was an active member of the Classical Guitar Society and the Columbia Basin Recorder Society.

Phyllis J. Brandt, 90, of Richland, died Feb. 10 at Kadlec Regional Medical Center in Richland.
She was born in Belle Valley, Ohio, and lived in the Tri-City area for 40 years.
She was a secretary at Hanford.
Columbia Memorial Funeral Chapel, Pasco, is in charge of arrangements.
